F Words

Once again we are traversing the US on tour and I’m going to attempt to keep up with a tour diary.  We have some awesome shows coming up this tour.  We have THE FEST in gainesville, a show with Code Orange Kids right after FEST and Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, TX where we will be opening for The Misfits.

We hit the road on the 17th stopping at my parent’s house in MD to print some tshirts.  One day we will be prepared when we leave for tour, until then we will print shirts from the road.  As always my parents made us feel right at home.  We woke up the morning of the 18th and headed down to Richmond.

It was our first time in Richmond, VA and it was awesome.  Super cool city.  Our show with The Gospel and Blackout Shift went well.  It was a fun night and Mike Jones and his wife Kensey of The Gospel let us crash at their house.  After a few episodes of Digimon with their son Reid and a trip to River City Diner we headed down to Whiteville, NC to crash with our tour manager Richie’s parents.

Our drive to Whiteville was an easy one and that whole “southern hospitality” thing is no joke.  We were greeted with fried chicken, biscuits and mac’n’cheese.  After food and a whole bunch of Modern Family we went to walmart to pick up somethings.  We headed back to Richie’s house, watched some Inglorious Basterds and passed out.

That morning we woke up and headed down to Wilmington.  If you have never been there it’s a super cool city.  We played at Orton’s and it was so far our best show of tour.  We played with No Label’s Fit and The You’re Gonna Die and go to Hell’s.  Both bands killed it and it was an incredible show.  After the show we got a head start to Charleston, SC where we managed to book a last minute show at The Mill.  We made it about half way and pulled over in walmart parking lot to get a few hours of sleep.

The show at The Mill was okay but the hospitality we received from Wally, the owner, was second to none.  It was a good time and Charleston, SC treated us well.  As soon as the show was over we headed to Savannah, GA where I currently sit as I write this post.

Hope to see you guys one the road.  There will be more, I promise.

Natural Disastour 2012 // Day 5, 6, 7

Okay so I have completely been slacking on tour posts the last few days so here’s what I’m gonna do. This post is going to contain day 5, 6, and 7 in a little bit more of a condensed version, so here I go!

Day 5

Last night was our last night in the Red Roof Inn in Springfield. After a couple hours of sleep we got up, got our shit together and bounced. We had heard about an awesome place to eat called Charlie Parker’s.

It was in an old plane hanger and it had a retro vibe. It was pretty awesome and the food was delicious.

After Charlie Parker’s we headed into Springfield and had no idea what the fuck to do. We ended driving past this place called the Celtic Mist and we stopped in because we had spoken to the bar manager Monday night about us playing there on Thursday. He was still into the idea and he gave us keys to a beautiful apartment up above the bar.

After the bar we decided to go see Honest Abe’s house. This was the house he lived in before taking the trip to the White House. It was awesome. The whole street he lived on was basically untouched. It was really cool.

After Lincoln’s house we headed over to the apartment and watched some movies and rested up before we headed over to an open mic night.

We met up with Bis at the open mic and hung there for a bit before heading to the apartment to crash. Over all not a crazy night, but it was fun.

Day 6

We woke up at around 12 with a million tickets on the van because of the stupid fucking parking meters.

We were pretty hungry and went to this place called La Bamba that Bis told us about. Their slogan is “burritos as big as your head”.  The food was really good, apparently they are a chain in the Midwest.

After food we headed to the municipality to deal with the tickets. We were pretty fucked for the over time parking on the meters but we are fighting a no parking ticket. After the nonsense we headed to the apartment for a nap and watched the first and second Matrix movies.

After hanging out we headed to a highschool to see Bis and his cousin coach at their basketball game. We had nothing else to do and figured we would come out to support. After the game we headed back to the apartment to get ready for our show. The show went well and Bis and a few people that had seen us play throughout the week were there. It was a good night.

Day 7

We headed to Chicago today and had the best show of tour, in my opinion. Once we arrived in Chicago we went to this kid EJ’s house to hang before the show. He had hooked us up with the show last minute and his bands The Ridgedales and Nightcaps were on the bill.

We hung for a while at his place and we found out he used to be the drumtech for Mest. He was a cool dude. We eventually decided we needed food and hit up this pizza place and got some Chicago deep dish. It was awesome.

The show at Slackers was awesome. The room was packed and we were super well received, all the bands killed it too! My favorite however were Nightcaps. They were amazing. After the show we started our drive to St. Louis and found a hotel room to crash in for a few hours.

Lemmons tomorrow!

Natural Disastour 2012 // Day 4
Laundry time!
I got up this morning at around 1045 to do some laundry. When we left I had more dirty than clean clothes with me because of the hurricane. I walked over to the gas station across the street to buy myself some detergent and when I arrived at the front desk of the hotel I was informed that the hotel’s washing machine was broken…because that’s how this tour has been going.
The lady at the front desk directed me to a laundromat so I headed there. Laundry mats in Indianapolis are super depressing, at least The Maury Show was on.
I finished washing my clothes and headed back to the hotel. Oh, and the laundry mat had a tanning salon in it. Ridiculous.
After our check out we headed off to Springfield, IL. The drive was easy and we got to Springfield early because we had the time change. Since we got there early we explored and got to see some Lincoln history. His law office was down the street from the venue.
The show at Bar None was pretty awesome. We met a lot of cool people and had a great night. We played a killer set and sold a whole bunch of merch.
After the show we made our way to a Red Roof hotel were we will be holding up for a few days. We met a few bar owners last night and some kids that were really amped about us that are going to try to hook us up with shows.
Wish us luck!!! Also, don’t forget to vote! We are pretty excited to be in Illinois during the election…that should let you know where we lean.
